Two ways to get to SAINTCON when cost is in the way: individual scholarships, and discounted group passes for K-12 schools. Jump to Scholarships or Student Groups.
Scholarships
At SAINTCON, we recognize that many individuals would greatly benefit from our events but face financial barriers that prevent them from attending. The UtahSAINT Organization runs a Conference Scholarship Program to help close that gap, offering a limited number of scholarships each year.
The program aims to assist individuals rather than entire groups. Each application is evaluated independently, and scholarships are awarded accordingly.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be at least 14 years old.
- Applicants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult attendee who is not scholarship-dependent.
- Applicants must not be currently employed by a company that might otherwise pay for conference entry.
- Applicants must submit an essay as outlined in the application.
What the scholarship includes
The scholarship includes a free pass to the conference, along with conference-provided lunches and snacks. It does not include travel, hotel, additional meals, or any other expense incurred by the awardee.
How awards work
All submissions are reviewed by a panel made up of security professionals and are ranked using several factors. The top submissions are selected, and notifications about the outcome are sent to the registered email address. Award emails contain a registration code that allows for free registration.
- Awardees must register within seven (7) days of award notification.
- All scholarship tickets are non-transferable and must be used by the awarded applicant.
- Awardees who become unable to attend should notify SAINTCON registration immediately.
Students
The Student Group program provides opportunities for K-12 students to take part in the STEM-based programs and activities at the SAINTCON cyber security conference. Student group participation has been part of SAINTCON since 2015, with groups joining from school districts as far away as Idaho.
Qualifications
- Organized by a K-12 school or district, with one group per school or district.
- All students must be at least 14 years old and well-behaved.
- Students must be registered at the organizing district.
- The school manages permission forms and liability independently of SAINTCON.
- At least one adult for every ten students (a 10:1 ratio).
- The school provides its own transportation and meals.
- Group size cannot exceed 25 people, including supervising adults.
- Groups must attend a minimum of two full conference days.
Limitations
SAINTCON limits total Student Group participation to 100 individuals across all groups, accepted on a first-come, first-served basis in the order applications are submitted. Tickets are non-refundable after purchase and are non-transferable, though limited replacements may be available onsite. All students in a group must select the same pass type.
